Since November 10, the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change 2025, known as COP 30, has been taking place in Belém (PA), in the Amazon region of Brazil. The UN's policy, along with the Brazilian government and other States, to hold the event in the Amazon region, away from the large megacities, aimed to give a "democratic" veneer to a conference that, like its predecessors, serves merely as a theater to convey a supposed concern and a false commitment in the face of the climate crisis that capitalism is dragging the planet into at a rapid pace.
