She also took precautionary measures (removal of their passport and obligation to present in front of a judge every 15 days) against the mayor and the quartermaster of the Mossos d’Esquadra, Trapero and Teresa Laplana.
The imprisonment of both Jordis is a true shame that shows the world, once again, that the regime we face is the inheritor of Franquismo, irreconcilable with democratic freedoms and the people’s right to decide. This regime decided to humiliate and punish the Catalan people without any consideration. This is the dialogue that the State offers: the imprisonment of the Jordis.
Will now the EU and its governments go public to demand their immediate freedom and to denounce this indignity?
We call to support the demonstrations called by the ANC, Òmnium, and the CDRs[1] on Wednesday 17 and to prepare a General Strike against this unjustified repression, for immediate freedom for both Jordis, the annulment of all legal processes in course, and the withdrawal of the occupation police forces. A strike against the imminent imposition of the article 155 of the Spanish constitution,[2] and for the immediate proclamation of the Catalan Republic, complying with the mandate of October 1.
What else do Puigdemont and Junqueras need to proclaim the Catalan Republic? What are they waiting for?
Only through massive mobilization, self-organization in the CDRs in coordination with rank-and-file assemblies in the study and workplaces, together with alternative unionism, we will make them respect the popular mandate. As we saw since the 1-0,[3] if we depend on Puigdemont-Junqueras, there will be no real proclamation of the Catalan Republic. The Republic will be work of workers, youth, and popular sectors, or it will not be.
