A peculiar movement arose in India, seemingly out of nowhere.  The presiding Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant, commented that the youth of the country are ‘cockroaches’. Soon after, there was an outpouring of rage on social media, mostly among the youth. The ‘cockroach’ became an unlikely symbol of opposition for the enraged youth of India. The youth’s anger is real, its issues are real, the question remains however, as to how real the CJP is.

On Monday, July 6, the town council of Windsor, Conn., voted against bringing back Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) cameras owned by Flock Group Inc. The vote represents a small but meaningful advance for the movement against surveillance and state repression, which includes similar victories in some 90 towns and cities across the U.S. Community leaders are now organizing to make the most of this advance by continuing and expanding campaigns against surveillance in Windsor and Connecticut.

On April 17, President Trump signed a memorandum of understanding that, among other things, established a ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon, and guaranteed that Iran would allow ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without charging any fees for sixty days. In exchange, U.S. forces suspended the blockade of Iranian ports and the sanctions on Iran’s oil exports. This memorandum favored Iran and reflects the failure of the aggression. However, Trump seeks to reverse that defeat, and the resumption of aggression may deepen it.

In the crosshairs are all of the targets of National Security Presidential Memorandum-7, virtually everyone that is not an unmovable supporter of the Trump regime. Agents of repression in these cases include everyone from private investigators, university administrators, local police, and the “Feds.” Swept up as victims of so-called “lawfare” are students, teachers, and workers from many backgrounds.

Pakistan is shaken by protests in Kashmir. Since the end of 2025, Pakistan Occupied Kashmir has witnessed popular mobilizations under the banner of the Joint Action Awami Committee (JAAC). These protests put the Pakistani state to task against its broken promises of liberating Kashmir from Indian occupation, while intensifying the exploitation of the part of Kashmir it controls. This webinar will help shed light on the issues at the heart of the struggle of the Kashmiri people, how they shape the ongoing struggle in India and in Pakistan. Salgado’s family is calling for an independent probe into his killing. The demand has been backed by civil liberties and immigrants’ rights groups. So far, federal authorities have refused to consider the demand. Meanwhile, Houston’s Mayor John Whitmire has declined to seek a city-led investigation. On July 8, over a thousand protesters marched in Houston to protest the killing of Lorenzo Salgado and to demand justice. The march was organized by the civil rights group FIEL Houston and by the Party for Socialism and Liberation. It began at the Canal Street site of Salgado’s killing, where a memorial of flowers and candles had been set up. “This is the exact spot that Lorenzo took his final breath,” Cesar Espinosa, executive director of FIEL Houston, told the protesters. “And in the spirit of solidarity, I don’t know about you, but I say, if they come for one of us, they come for all of us.” Signs held by the demonstrators demanded “ICE out of Houston” and “Abolish ICE!”

NATO is an international counter-revolutionary apparatus created to defend the imperialist-capitalist order against the revolutionary struggle of the working class. It is a military-political instrument constructed by the bourgeoisie to suppress working-class organization, socialist movements, and national liberation struggles throughout the world. The fact that NATO neither dissolved nor diminished after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, despite the disappearance of its alleged enemy, but instead expanded continuously, demonstrates that its true function has never been “defense against communism.” Its real purpose has always been the global defense of the capitalist order and imperialist hegemony. Today, the struggle against NATO is not merely a matter of foreign policy. It is an inseparable part of defending the democratic rights of the working class, trade union freedoms, and the struggle for social emancipation. Against imperialist wars, against the clandestine machinery of the state, against capitalist barbarism, the genuine alternative is the independent, united, socialist struggle of the international working class.

Another veteran, from Tacoma, Wash., Aran Myracle, observed, “Veterans in the United States have outsized credibility. It’s important that we use that undeserved privilege to do the crucial work of dismantling the systems that sent us to die for the ruling class’s profits. It’s also the only real tangible way I’ve personally found to cope with moral injury.” These recent actions prove that, contrary to popular opinion, not all veterans are supportive of military aggression against foreign nations. Those who have seen the wanton killing and destruction of war very often see its pointlessness. Exposure to the death and horrors wrought by war frequently result in trauma from which they may never recover. The thrill of a “noble cause” can quickly turn into a struggle to survive its ugliness.

NATO is not merely a military defence organisation; it is an aggressive structure safeguarding the global political and economic order of US imperialism. In this century, the economic centre of gravity is gradually shifting from the Atlantic to the Pacific. As China becomes the world’s second-largest economy, a significant portion of global trade and production is concentrating in Asia. Consequently, China’s rise is now not merely an economic issue, but a geopolitical one. We view this as the emergence of a new imperialist power; the unipolar world is giving way once more to a multipolar power struggle. As Europe’s security concerns grow, Turkiye’s geopolitical position and military strength will become one of the key factors bearing a significant portion of this burden. So, what price will Turkiye’s working people have to pay for this expanding role within NATO?

When the Pakistani authorities arrested Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) core member Shaukat Nawaz Mir, they expected to break the momentum of a movement that had already endured weeks of repression, arrests and political intimidation. The calculation was familiar: remove the leadership, criminalise the organisation, isolate the movement through an information blackout and gradually exhaust the population through fear and economic hardship. Similar methods have been employed against democratic movements across Pakistan for decades. Yet in Pakistan-administered Jammu Kashmir, the strategy produced an outcome very different from that intended by the state. Rather than retreating, the movement entered a new political phase.

The state has clamped down on protests, sweeping arrests have been made and are still being made. Hundreds across Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK) are arrested, with many still unaccounted for. Mobile services and communications are blocked or suspended in many parts, amidst heavy policing. The JAAC has been deemed as engaging in ‘terrorism’, at least a hundred and fifty of their leaders are being held in preventive detention.
