European Union and Mercosur officials signed an agreement on July 28 which is meant to increase trade between 28 European countries and the four members of Mercosur (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay).

The main benefactor is the European industrial sector as taxes to access Mercosur markets will decrease.
Mercosur agribusiness is supposed to benefit as well.
For Latin American workers the perspectives are grim.
Deindustrialization, less industrial jobs and deregulation of labor rights
will worsen their situation.
Labor movement will have to stand up and fight back this Free Trade Agreement.
