Stop Austerity!
In Defense of Public Services and Workers´ rights!
The Obama administration gave trillions of dollars to save big corporations & banks from the economic crisis in 2008/2009. Since then, working people have been facing increasing budget cuts, increased layoffs and attacks against workers´ rights in the name of “Austerity”. Now, Obama proposes substantial cuts to Social Security and Medicare. Is this fair?
We believe it is not. It´s time for workers, youth and oppressed people to unite and organize against these attacks and to defend our rights. We need to stand against layoffs, unemployment, and pay cuts; against budget cuts to education and all public services, and demand more funding. We need to fight for the right to organize, for democratic and independent unions that will not accept concessionary contracts.
That is the only way to make the bankers and elite pay for the crisis they created, and not the working people.
Citizenship for all immigrants now!
No more waiting in line; No more criminalization!
Obama´s Immigration Reform is creating a lot of expectations among immigrants. Many think that we´re finally going to have our demands met.
But Obama´s bill has a lot of disguised attacks that we must be aware of:
1) It does not guarantee citizenship. It allows undocumented immigrants to apply if they pay fines, late taxes, meet several restricting criteria and wait in line for 13 years!
2) It reinforces criminalization, investing billions in border fences, police patrols and drones; expands background checks for every small business (e-verify) and creates a system to verify passport visas.
3) It is a bill for big business aimed at legalizing a cheap/super-exploited class of immigrant laborers without rights.
It’s very important that immigrant organizations fight for the real and permanent demands of immigrants, and not supporting Obama´s Bill. We want full citizenship and rights for all immigrants, and not measures to deceive and divide our community! We’re part of the same working class that has to be united against the bosses and bankers and their politicians in Capitol Hill, who are pushing an immigration bill for their gain.
Full citizenship rights for all!
An immediate end to all repressive state measures!
For the right of all working people to go to school, to work, and to organize!
For public services and real social security!
Jobs for all with workplace rights!
