History of IWL-FI is released on video

In January, 1982 the International Workers League – Fourth International was founded, at times of great convulsions of the class struggle:  Sandinista revolution in Nicaragua, overthrowing of the Shah of Iran, political revolution in Poland, victory of the “socialist” Mitterrand in France, the world economic crisis. What reasons led a “handful” of representatives from several countries to gather at a conference and found a new international Trotskyist organization? Who was involved, what countries, what were the major decisions?

In 1985 the first congress of the IWL-FI was held, the only one that was attended by Nahuel Moreno, the founder of the current that would be known as “Morenoist.” What did Moreno say in this congress? What was IWL-FI’s assessment of world political juncture then? How were the IWL’s parties through the world doing?

In 2010 it was held the X Congress. Almost 30 years had passed since its foundation. In this period the International League would meet significant growth periods of their parties, like the years in which the MAS (Argentina) became the largest Trotskyist party in the world, and times of great crisis, like the one that almost made the organization disappear in the ’90s, when the capitalist restoration in the former workers States led to the dissolution of the former USSR and let most of the left puzzled. But the solid foundation of the IWL-FI provided it to be rebuilt and to currently experience a new world situation of development, with parties that insert themselves in the living reality of the class struggle in Latin America and in Europe, facing major new challenges.

All this rich history can now be watched in a video produced by the Brazilian PSTU’s communication team – coordinated by Lu Candido – which takes 46 minutes to show the facts that led to the founding of IWL, its evolution, its “high and downs” and the aftermaths of this 30 years’ fight to build a democratically centralized international, with regular congresses and a leadership elected by delegates from all its parties, and that has the strategic objective of rebuilding the Fourth International as planned by Leon Trotsky: the world party of socialist revolution.

A video clip (that you can watch clicking on the link below) will be exhibited in the International meeting celebrating the 30th anniversary of IWL, to be held this December, 1st, in Buenos Aires, when the video, narrated in two languages - Portuguese and Spanish – will begin to be sold.

Be sure to purchase your copy, which can be found in the IWL-FI parties’ headquarters and with their militants in your country.
