The Uruguayan administration nationalized two companies under control of Brazilian corporation Petrobrás on July 16, 2019.

The companies Montevideo Gas and Conectas are responsible for provision of gas.
The nationalization came after two-month-long workers’ struggle.
They carried out hunger strikes, demonstrations and finally workers control which was repressed by the police.
All workers dismissed, around 100, were rehired.
International solidarity also played a role in this workers’ victory.
