Liverpool has been the scene of weekly demonstrations promoted by university students and young Palestinians or Palestinian descent.
The same scene we can see in the West Bank itself, where young people face heavy weapons from Israel just counting on their strength and endurance, throwing stones with their so symbolic slingshot and wearing their kuffyahs (Palestinian scarves), fighting for the right to a future which is taken from them. They struggle for an end to Israeli attacks and occupation, but also for a free, secular and democratic Palestine in all its historical territory and the right of return to all the millions of refugees worldwide.
We are pleased to publish on our website a transcript of the speech made by a young university student from Liverpool in an open meeting of the ISL, IWL-FI’s section in England.

It is deeply refreshing to see so many people from different backgrounds standing united behind the oppressed people Gaza, it just goes to show you don’t have to be Jewish, Muslim Christian or even religious to recognise the systematic annihilation of an indigenous race of people by the hands of the Israeli government.
It’s sickening to see how the superpowers of the world today are simply condoning this brutal onslaught, where are the British government, America and those oil rich Arab nations?
The British government are supporting Israel, and they have paved the way since 1945 for Israel’s occupation on Palestinian land and still continue to stand behind them to this very day.
Just a week ago William Hague said that Israel has a right to defend itself and that is the message the BBC are also trying to portray – that the Israelis are the main victims and that they are defending themselves. But look at the map it shows that Israel is not a defensive state.
They have not been a defensive state for centuries – Israel has been a colonial state, and an imperialistic state and a state hell bent on ethnic cleansing.
You know there is a saying that those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it, remember Apartheid South Africa and look what is happening to Palestinians who have little or no resources whatsoever and are not even considered human beings by the Israeli government as they are walled off from basic human supplies.
What about the holocaust inflicted upon the Jews by Nazi Germany? It is very much a mirror reflection now as the Palestinian people are imprisoned by and are in a systematic death camp as bombs are continuously dropped in densely populated areas and the death total is rising even as you are reading this.
The Israeli politicians absolutely intend for this happen, back in 2012 Israel’s interior minister called for Gaza to be flattened and sent back to the middle ages. Look at what is happening now, those words are similar to the words of the son of the former Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon who said that Gaza should be flattened just like the USA flattened Nagasaki and Hiroshima killing more than 100,000 people with an atomic bomb. Israel’s defence minister back in 2008 Matan Vilnai called for a holocaust to be afflicted and look what is happening now, these sick twisted individuals support genocide.
If the whole world sleeps and ignores the rivers of blood in Palestine than they will eventually be wiped out like the native Americans and the aboriginal Australians by the European imperialists
Before I finish, we must ask ourselves what we can do not only as a Liverpool population but as a human population who won’t stand for the needless slaughter of other human beings. This means to keep putting pressure on Israel, isolating their finances by boycotting Israeli goods.
We need to put pressure on the mainstream media such as the BBC and let them know that they cannot bury the truth by spreading the reality of the situation on social media. We also need to put political pressure on our government until David Cameron and his lot get the message.
Keep fighting until Palestine is free .. so…
