In December Liverpool City Council like many if not all Labour councils are making plans to rob “99%” of Liverpool in particular devastating the lives of the most vulnerable in the next year of austerity cuts. Below is listed just a few of the areas being targeted for 100% cuts.
• Decommission specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services for Looked After Children;
• Children’s Social Care Close residential unit (Millies) for short breaks for children with complex health needs;
• Children’s Centres Closure of 2 Children’s Centres;
• Cease provision of school milk to 5-7 year olds (saving would be within schools budget);
• Close residential unit (Prescot Drive) for short breaks for disabled;
• Discontinue Ethnic Minority Traveller and Asylum services funded by Early Intervention Grant;
• Cease commissioned advocacy service for Looked After Children;
• Cease Independent Visitor Service or find no-cost alternative;
• Inclusion & Commissioning Cease local authority contribution to Child and Adolescent Mental Health;
·Service (CAMHS);
• Withdrawal of Older People Floating Support service.
• Reduction in sheltered housing support for Older People
• Withdrawal of Domestic Violence support service

We are all under attack locally and nationally by the government. Labour councils should be fighting the Tory government but they refuse to do this and instead choose to rob those they claim to represent.
Liverpool city council are putting the burden of capitalism’s crisis on to the shoulders of the working class.
The effect will be devastating and continuous in the years ahead, as Osborne promises there are more cuts and Labour Party obediently carry through these anti-working class policies. These ‘representatives’ of the working class make verbal attacks against protestors trying to save jobs, services and conditions as they have no intention of opposing the interests of government and big business. Labour opposed the public sector strike on November 30 and even tried to obstruct its organisation.
So unions, students and communities have to fight together against these people to demand an end to the cuts and must refuse to pay the debt of the bankers and governments. The movement has only just begun and must develop into mass opposition if these catastrophic policies are to be defeated.
In Liverpool following the August uprising of youth, people from the poor and Black communities made it clear that they held the council and the police responsible for the lack of services and opportunities in their communities. It is essential for all communities, unions, youth and workers to unite and fight together.
We need to build an independent working class party with a programme that links all workers together in this country and throughout Europe where the crisis is at its sharpest and where workers all face the same onslaught from their governments. We need a programme that is anticapitalist and fights for workers and their communities and takes control of services. The demand is that the banks and big business pay for their own crisis.
We have to nationalise all the banks and multi-nationals who are trying to wreck the lives of millions of people and fight for socialism. Without this the crisis will deepen and the attacks will continue year after year.
