Legalization For All Now!

As workers, we carry the burden of the economic crisis created by the banks and the capitalists: unemployment, concessions, foreclosures, and on the top of that, racism and repression.

Obama and the Congress provided billions to bail out banks and corporations and to wage wars. Now they want to make workers to pay for the crisis and are targeting immigrants as a escape goat for the crisis.

Obama has deported 400 thousand immigrants (1,100 per day) in his first year in office. He also enforced the E-Verify program and has done nothing against the car impoundment.

Now Obama has declared his support for Senator Schumer and Graham’s immigration reform plans: biometric social security cards to prevent undocumented workers from getting jobs, the militarization of the border, a guest-worker program, and a tough path to legalization.

To make things worse, the republicans want to accelerate the anti-immigrant agenda, as evidenced by the new Arizona immigration bill.

Enough is enough!  We can’t accept any of this, nor can we support the Gutierrez bill. Although it provides a path to legalize part of the undocumented, it enforces the militarization of the border and will target those who cannot get papers. The only safe path is the full and unconditional legalization for all.

As workers, we can only trust our own mobilization. It is necessary to unite all workers, immigrants or not, to demand that Obama act now to provide jobs for all, and to end racial profiling and the persecution of immigrants.

We need to repeat the 2006 immigrants’ mobilizations and unite them with all workers’ struggles: the Oakland teachers’ strike, the struggle for public education in California, and the campaign for equal rights for the LGBT community. One’s struggle is the struggle of all! United, we can win!!

– Papers for all!

– End the raids, e-verify and car impoundment!

– No to the militarization of the border! No to any guest-worker program!

– Recognition of Spanish and Cantonese as official California languages in order to guarantee Latino and Chinese communities’ rights!

– No to racism! Justice for Oscar Grant! Immediate release for Mumia Abu Jamal!

– Support the Oakland teachers strike, the struggle for public education and for LGBT rights!

– Outlaw layoffs and foreclosures!

– Reduction of the work week to 35h with no loss in pay in order to provide more jobs!

– Plan of Public Works to provide affordable homes, quality public transportation and other public facilities to provide thousands of jobs!

– Nationalization of the banks and corporation that were bailout, under workers control!

– Immediate withdrawal of all troops from Iraq and Afghanistan! Money for jobs and education not for wars and incarceration!

– No confidence in Obama and the Congress!

– For a Workers Government without capitalists! For a world without borders!
