It is necessary four votings with a minimum of 308 votes for: 2 votings by the lower house and 2 by the senate.
The lower house speaker postponed the second voting for August.
The reform is meant to save R$ 1 trillion (around US$ 250 million) from social security funding in ten years through eliminating some social security rights, decreasing all benefits and making pension requirements tougher.
President Bolsonaro administration spent R$ 4.2 billion (US$ 1 billion) on the benefit of MPs to force them to vote for the reform.
Two days later, on July 12, 15,000-strong demonstration brought Brasilia’s main avenue into a halt. They protested the reform approval.
CSP-Conlutas believes that the war for pension rights is not over. It will work to unite all labor in struggle to stop the reform.
