The number of murdered women doubled in January and February in Sao Paulo State alone.
The “Atlas of Violence”, an official yearly survey on violence in Brazil, went into public this month.
For 2017, it shows that 13 women were murdered per day in Brazil, totaling nearly 5,000.
Sixty-six percent of them were Black women what exposes the interconnection between racism and sexist violence.
The Moviment Women in Struggle is a working class women’s movement affiliated to CSP-Conlutas that stands for women’s rights.
