Eight thousand university employees have been on strike since February 1, 2019 at the Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM) in Mexico.

They fight for 20% increase in wages and respect for their labor collective contract as 1,800 workers were hired by the university outside the framework of their contract.
75% of the workforce is affiliated to the SITUAM, the university workers union.
This is the main labor dispute in Mexico together with the industrial workers strikes in Matamoros Free Economic Zone, and teachers strikes in Southern Mexico.
CSP-Conlutas stands in solidarity with UAM workers strike and demands President Lopez Obrador to meet the workers’ demands.
