New Declassified Documents Expose U.S.-backed Dictatorships in South America

On April 12, 2019 the U.S. delivered a set of 7,500 declassified CIA documents about the execution, torture and kidnapping of babies carried out by U.S.-backed dictatorships in South America in the 1970s.

The close collaboration between Argentinean, Chilean and Uruguayan dictatorships and the U.S. included even torture training in the infamous “School of the Americas” at Fort Benning near Columbus in Georgia State where more than 60,000 military and policemen from 23 Latin American countries were trained.
