Esmail Bakhshi and other representatives of the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane workers have posted messages about the future ownership and management of the company. The following is a short message by an anonymous worker. It was published on the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Company workers’ independent channel on Telegram on October 1st 2020.
Esmail Bakhshi and our other reps and all of us unanimously announce [the following] about the future ownership and management of the company: after the private sector has been divested, we will not accept any private or semi-private sector. There are two conditions from which the workers themselves must choose one:
- The handover of the whole hundred per cent ownership and shares of the company to the Haft Tappeh workers. Or,
- If the company is returned to the public (state) sector, it must be run under the supervision of the Haft Tappeh workers’ council.
Our protests penned the arrest and trial of Asadbeigi-Rostami*, brought about the main demand of divestment and our protests are on the verge of erupting if our demands are ignored.
Long live unity!
Long live Haft Tappeh, the world’s strike capital!
A workmate’s message.
* Omid Asadbeigi was the former CEO and Mehrdad Rostami is the Chairman of the Board of Haft Tappeh.
