In his article “The Saudi Death Squad MBS Uses To Silence Dissent[i]” from 10/22/2018, the journalist Mustafa Abu Sneineh paints a portrait on the Tiger Squad, which has the objective of eliminating Saudi dissidents within and abroad the country, efficiently and discreetly.
According to the article, the Tiger Squad was formed a little over a year ago with 50 members selected among armed forces and Saudi intelligence services.
The name comes from General Ahmed al-Assiri, also known as the Tiger of the South. Among its leaders there are people who Saudi Prince Mohammad Bin Salman trusts like Saoud al-Qahtani and Maher Abdulaziz Mutrib.
The execution of the journalist Jamal al-Khashoggi, was not the Squad’s first. They were also responsible for the death of Saudi prince Mansour bin Moqren, whose helicopter was toppled by a missile in the south of the country, and Sheikh Suliman Abdul Rahman al Thuniyan, who was poisoned in a hospital in Riyad.
Abroad, the Squad worked without success to eliminate Saudi dissident Omar Abdulaziz, exiled in Canada.
Intelligence services and operations to eliminate enemies
The use of special squads to eliminate enemies is not exclusive of Saudis.
A squad of 25 SEALS of North American marines murdered Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan. Orlando Letelier’s car exploded in the North American capital by a DINA squad led by Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet. Mordechai Vanunu, who revealed the Israeli nuclear plans, was kidnapped by MOSSAD in European territory.
The British MI6, popularly known through the fictional agent 007 – James Bond, actively participated in the plans to weaken Hamas, which were drawn with the security service of the Palestinian Authority and the Israeli Mossad, according to denunciations by the British press.[ii]
Another famous case was the murder of the oldest brother of Dictator Kim Jong Un with chemical weapons in Malaysia.
The struggle for the dismantlement of these intelligence services and repression forces is a struggle for democratic freedoms used by the working class to organize and fight for their rights and the transformation of the entire society.
