Stop Dismissals in Meat Industry

Cowhide tanners are fighting back wage cuts, unsafe working conditions and dismissals in Uruguay.

By CSP-Conlutas Media Workgroup

Inspired by the recent victory of gas workers whose struggle managed to rehire 80 dismissed workers, they called a strike for August 14, 2019.

The meatpacker corporation Zenda owned by Brazilian corporation Marfrig dismissed 370 workers alone.

The workers’ Union wants the Uruguayan authorities to intervene to rehire the workers.

Uruguay has a large meat industry and beef is one of its top exports.

CSP-Conlutas stands in solidarity with Uruguayan brothers and sisters and demands the rehiring of all 370 dismissed workers.
