There was a general feeling against Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and his homophobic agenda.

Recently the Supreme Court decided that homophobia is an indefeasible crime for which there is no possibility of leaving on bail and penalties range between 1-5 years in jail.

President Bolsonaro criticized the Supreme Court decision neglecting the fact that Brazil has the highest rate of LGBT murder in the world, around 500 per year.

The character of the Parade changed along the years.

In its first editions, it was a militant Parade.

Today it is a carnival-like commodified event.

Concerned activists held a rally just before the Parade standing for a militant Parade in opposition to president Bolsonaro in the spirit of the 50-year-old Stonewall revolt.

CSP-Conlutas endorsed both the concerns and the rally.
