The Uruguayan administration nationalized two companies under control of Brazilian corporation Petrobrás on July 16, 2019.

European Union and Mercosur officials signed an agreement on July 28 which is meant to increase trade between 28 European countries and the four members of Mercosur (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay).
