On the short term they want to make pension rights smaller and more difficult to get.
They want pension smaller than one minimum wage (around US$ 250 per month) and to require all workers to be at least 65 years old to retire.
On the long term they want a pension system based on private pension funds offered by banks for which neither the bosses nor the government contribute.
Therefore the current pension system will eventually collapse.
That is the model dictator Pinochet adopted in Chile.
Currently 1.3 million Chilean retired workers have benefits around US$ 140 which are not enough to make ends meet.
Brazilian labor federations held a Seminar on November 12, 2018 in order to fight back this backlash on workers’ rights.
Three hundred union leaders attended the meeting and decided to call a national day of action for November 22, 2018.
