In view of the recent murder of a woodland worker, a comrade of our working class, killed by the forces of repression of the government and the employers, Workers’ Revolutionary Army (PRT) declares:
1. – In view of the demands of woodland workers for improved salaries for which the workers are fighting since March this year, PRT stands firmly arm to arm with these workers and their just struggle
2. – In this struggle there can be no halfway positions. You can be either with the workers, their families and their demands or you stand for the company and the employer-oriented Bachelet administration.
3. – We summon all the social and political organisations of workers, especially the CUT, to take position unconditionally by the side of the woodland workers, to show solidarity with this important struggle of the working class.
4. – And yet, verbal support is no longer sufficient: we must go further in our organisation and struggle.
5. What is to be done in this situation is to pose a PLAN OF STRUGGLE, which necessarily must contemplate NATIONAL STRIKE NOW.
6. – We believe that the PLAN OF STRUGGLE should take into account marches in support of the just struggle of our brothers in class, coming from different parts of the country they should converge at the sport where this important and transcendental struggle is taking place; concentrations of workers demanding a prompt and positive answer to the just demands; days of wages to support the strike, the workers and their families, shared eateries and any kind of solidarity or help that may be required.
7. – We are asking that you should do exactly what you did in Argentina when it was also the police who murdered the chemistry teacher, Carlos Fuentealba, when he also fell in combat for better salaries, for whom a great and successful national strike was summoned repudiating the murder and demanding trial and punishment for the murderers.
8. – This important struggle of the woodland workers takes place at a moment when a visible weakening of the Bachelet administration – representing employers and imperialism – can be perceived through the down-slide in the polls because of her irresponsibility as well as due to the disgraceful distribution of income – one of the worst in the word because of her insistence on applying unflinchingly all the policies useful only for the great companies, among which we can quote Bosques Arauco of the Anegelini Group, one of the riches on this continent and whose business in the woodland area brings in about 80% of the income of the holding of all the companies belonging to this economic group, known as the “black collar company” because of the deaths of the Valdivia swans.
9. – THE GOVERNMENT IS MAINLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS MURDER, together with the repressive apparatuses which do not hesitate and will not hesitate in applying all the “means of dissuasion” they have at hand in order to halt the workers’ power of which they are justifiably afraid and the bourgeoisie and their servants will never allow workers to run companies in this country.
10. – In order to overcome, we, the workers must apply to the confidence in our own forces, in our union, in our organisation, in our determination to overcome.
11. – And yet, we believe there is little or rather nothing to be expected form the famous “negotiation tables” and “mediators” for it is WITH STRUGGLE THAT THINGS ARE ACHIEVED, for workers do not have the same resources that our class enemy, bourgeoisie, employers, entrepreneurs and their servants on duty, the government (Bachelet for the time being), Parliament, Tribunals, laws, police, armed forces, etc can rely on.
NO CONFIDENCE IN THE COLLABORATIVE GOVERNMENT!
LET US GO ON MOBILISING FOR OUR DEMANDS!
THE CUT IS TO POSE A PLAN OF STRUGGLES WITH A NATIONAL STRIKE!
FOR THE UNIFICATION AND CENTRALISATION OF THE STRUGGLES!
TRIAL AND PUNISHMENT TO THOSE WHO MURDER WORKERS!
IN OUR OWN ORGANISATION AND STRUGGLE WE TRUST!
