For the immediate release of Sajid Khan!

We reprint here two urgent messages from the ongoing uprising in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. For months now, Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, has been the site of a massive social upheaval as a millions strong movement has called for autonomy and economic relief from the dictatorial government of Pakistan. Following a surge in the movement in July, the government of Pakistan has responded with brutal repression, cutting internet access to the region, brutally attacking protests and arresting organizers. In solidarity with the broader struggle for national liberation across Pakistan-, India-, and Chinese-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, we call for the release of Sajid Khan! ––International Workers’ League

We strongly condemn, in the harshest possible terms, the registration of baseless and fabricated terrorism cases against Comrade Sajid Khan Advocate, a communist leader, Marxist intellectual, and member of the Bagh Awami Action Committee, along with other activists.

The administration reopened the road after reaching an agreement with the Public Action Committee of Rerha called Defiance road where sit in blocked the road in Solidarity with joint Awami Action committee . To subsequently violate that agreement and register cases under anti-terrorism provisions is a deplorable and malicious tactic on the part of the administration.

Let the rulers remember that the Government of Pakistan and the Government of Azad Kashmir entered into an agreement with the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee and promised to implement its demands within an agreed timeframe. Despite repeated reminders and the passage of the promised deadline, no implementation took place. Consequently, the Committee announced a long march. Instead of honouring their commitments, the ruling class resorted to broken promises, deceit, lies, and political manipulation, while attempting to delegitimise the movement.

The people continue their struggle until their demands are met and their rights secured. Despite repression, violence, arrests, enforced disappearances, loss of lives, internet shutdowns, and the disruption of businesses and all economic and social activities, the movement has stood as an enduring symbol of resistance since 5 June, sustained by extraordinary sacrifices and unwavering determination.

The movement will remain steadfast until the ruling class is defeated and the people’s rights are secured.

You may force us to endure repression, but you will never force us to surrender. If surrender is the only option you demand, then even those who wield power will have to confront the consequences of their own actions.

We appeal to the international working class to stand with the people of Jammu Kashmir in defending economic dignity, democratic freedoms and the right to organise peacefully. Support for the JAAC charter should mean supporting a fair and transparent process to address its demands, protecting people from retaliation for peaceful political activity, and ensuring accountability wherever wrongdoing is proven. The objective must not be to deepen confrontation, but to secure a peaceful settlement in which people can work, speak, organise and choose their representatives without fear. The people of Jammu Kashmir deserve truth, justice, dignity and meaningful participation in decisions affecting their lives
