The War was fought between Paraguay and the triple alliance of Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay backed by the British between 1864 and 1870.

It is considered the largest and bloodiest war in the history of South America.

The war ended with a genocide of 60% to 69% of the Paraguayan people in the hands of the Brazilian army led by Count D’Eu, an European aristocrat.

The book unveils the liberal myth that the war was about democracy.

The launching of the book has as background a wave of anger against President Mario Abdo Benitez and the new concessions to Brazil around Itaipu dam agreement.
