The CNTE [Education Workers’ National Coordinator] is a classist organization, inside the SNTE [National Union of Education Workers], conformed by thousands of education workers in Mexico. We emerged in 1979, and we have been one of the main opposition references to the predator policies of neo-liberalism.
This struggle intensified during the government of Enrique Peña Nieto, mandated by the OCDE, the World Bank, the IMF, as much as by the multinational groups, and supported by the summits of the political parties (Pact for Mexico), to impose several “structural reforms”, among whose goals are the privatization, the handing over of our natural resources, and the subjection of work to the capital; in other words, to deepen a policy that makes the rich richer and the poor poorer. Shamefully, our nation is among the ones with higher social inequality around the world. We are also one of the countries with highest repression and impunity, as shown by the disappearance of the 43 students of Ayotzinapa, and the murder of 11 students in Nochixtlán, Oaxaca.
Specially since 2013, the CNTE has driven a tough fight against the incorrectly called “educational reform”, which is actually a labor reform aiming to privatize the public education. As a result of this fight, we now have 14 comrades dead; 3360 teachers have been fired, other thousands in process of dismissal, dozens of political prisoners; multiple arrestment orders and a media and police harassment as never seen before.
We are aware the policy imposed by Peña Nieto is blood and fire, and not exclusive of country but an imperialist policy implemented in most countries of the worlds. Therefore, if the capitalist aggression is global, so should be the workers’ response. Under this consideration, the CNTE calls:
INTERNATIONAL WORKERS’ ENCOUNTER
