Today, not even those who once justified the occupation believe such words. Hans Blix, former chief of UN inspectors who verified Saddam&#8217;s alleged &#8220;massive arms&#8221;, stated recently, &#8220;<I>Saddam&#8217;s tyranny was bad but the current situation is even worse<\/I>&#8220;.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = \"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office\" \/><o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P><br \/>\n<P class=MsoSubtitle style=\"MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 35.45pt; TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=EN-GB style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Georgia\">The terrible consequences that the imperialist occupation had for the Iraqi people have just been assessed by a scientific study of the <st1:PlaceName w:st=\"on\">John<\/st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceName w:st=\"on\">Hopkins<\/st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st=\"on\">University<\/st1:PlaceType> of the <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">USA<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>. This study reveals that, in the last three years, 655 000 Iraqis died as a joint result of military actions, bombing of civilian populations, the activity of death squads or for lack of food and medical care stemming out of the war.<o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P><br \/>\n<P class=MsoSubtitle style=\"MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 35.45pt; TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=EN-GB style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Georgia\">In other words, imperialism has been committing a real genocide in <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Iraq<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>. These figures prove up to what point <st1:PersonName w:st=\"on\">cr<\/st1:PersonName>uelty and scorn for people can go to uphold their control over the world.
