There is no doubt that he is responsible for this <st1:PersonName w:st=\"on\">cr<\/st1:PersonName>ime and many others. This trial, however, cannot be regarded as anything but an utter farce, typical of a &#8220;colonial justice&#8221;.<o:p><\/o:p><\/FONT><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P><br \/>\n<P class=MsoSubtitle style=\"MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 35.45pt; TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=EN-GB style=\"FONT-SIZE: 12pt\"><FONT face=Georgia><FONT size=2>This is so, firstly, because its real aim is not to do justice to the Iraqi people, but to cover up with a veil of &#8220;juridical legitimacy&#8221; the invasion and occupation of Iraq by the imperialist troops, whose main excuse has been, precisely, to &#8220;<I>liberate<\/I>&#8221; that country from &#8220;<I>Saddam Hussein&#8217;s tyranny<\/I>&#8220;.<o:p><\/o:p><\/FONT><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P><br \/>\n<P class=MsoSubtitle style=\"MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 35.45pt; TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=EN-GB style=\"FONT-SIZE: 12pt\"><FONT face=Georgia><FONT size=2>Secondly, because the tribunal that tried him is part of a puppet government, agent of a colonial occupation that has already caused 655 000 fatal casualties in the country (see article <I style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal\">Authentic Genocide<\/I>) and uses torture indis<st1:PersonName w:st=\"on\">cr<\/st1:PersonName>iminately and slaughters civilians. The <st1:PersonName w:st=\"on\">cr<\/st1:PersonName>imes committed by the occupation are far worse than those committed by Saddam, but none of them has been tried and sentenced. To the contrary, they are encouraged by the American government and their puppets in <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Iraq<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>. Let us remember that Bush has just had a bill passed allowing torture practised on prisoners regarded as &#8220;enemy fighters&#8221;.<o:p><\/o:p><\/FONT><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P><br \/>\n<P class=MsoSubtitle style=\"MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 35.45pt; TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=EN-GB style=\"FONT-SIZE: 12pt\"><FONT face=Georgia size=2>Thirdly, and with absolute hypo<st1:PersonName w:st=\"on\">cr<\/st1:PersonName>isy, he is convicted for a <st1:PersonName w:st=\"on\">cr<\/st1:PersonName>ime committed when Saddam was an ally of the American imperialism and was wagging war against <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Iran<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> so as to weaken the revolution in that country<\/FONT><A title=\"\" style=\"mso-footnote-id: ftn1\" href=\"#_ftn1\" name=_ftnref1><SPAN class=MsoFootnoteReference><SPAN style=\"mso-special-character: footnote\"><SPAN class=MsoFootnoteReference><SPAN lang=EN-GB style=\"FONT-SIZE: 12pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-fareast-language: ES; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA\"><FONT face=Georgia size=2>[1]<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/A><FONT face=Georgia><FONT size=2>.<o:p><\/o:p><\/FONT><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P><br \/>\n<P class=MsoSubtitle style=\"MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 35.45pt; TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=EN-GB style=\"FONT-SIZE: 12pt\"><FONT face=Georgia><FONT size=2>In these years imperialism remained silent about Saddam&#8217;s <st1:PersonName w:st=\"on\">cr<\/st1:PersonName>imes, something they always do when dealing with dictators that can prove useful to their interests. Let us remember the answer given by Franklin D. Roosevelt, then president of the <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\">USA<\/st1:country-region>, to those who pointed out that Anastasio Somoza, Senior was committing atrocities in <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Nicaragua<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>: &#8220;<I>He may be a son of a bitch<\/I>, <I>but he is our son of a bitch<\/I>&#8220;. After the invasion on <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Kuwait<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> in 1990, Saddam was no longer an ally and became an &#8220;enemy&#8221;. That is why his <st1:PersonName w:st=\"on\">cr<\/st1:PersonName>imes, previously accepted are now condemned.<o:p><\/o:p><\/FONT><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P><br \/>\n<P class=MsoSubtitle style=\"MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 35.45pt; TEXT-ALIGN: justify\"><SPAN lang=EN-GB style=\"FONT-SIZE: 12pt\"><FONT face=Georgia><FONT size=2>We have no doubts that Saddam deserves to be tried and convicted for his atrocities. But neither the <st1:PersonName w:st=\"on\">cr<\/st1:PersonName>iminal imperialism nor the puppet Iraqi administration has any political or moral right to do so. Only the Iraqi people have the right to do so. But this right will only be exerted once the imperialist occupants and their Iraqi puppets are defeated and expelled from the country. That is why we expose this trial as real farce and we reject the conviction that resulted from the process.<o:p><\/o:p><\/FONT><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P><br \/>\n<DIV style=\"mso-element: footnote-list\"><BR clear=all><FONT face=Georgia size=2><br \/>\n<HR align=left width=\"33%\" SIZE=1><br \/>\n<\/FONT><br \/>\n<DIV id=ftn1 style=\"mso-element: footnote\"><br \/>\n<P class=MsoFootnoteText style=\"MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt\"><A title=\"\" style=\"mso-footnote-id: ftn1\" href=\"#_ftnref1\" name=_ftn1><SPAN class=MsoFootnoteReference><SPAN lang=EN-GB><SPAN style=\"mso-special-character: footnote\"><SPAN class=MsoFootnoteReference><SPAN lang=EN-GB style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-fareast-language: ES; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA\"><FONT face=Georgia size=1>[1]<\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/SPAN><\/A><SPAN lang=EN-GB><FONT face=Georgia size=1> In <st1:metricconverter w:st=\"on\" ProductID=\"1979, a\">1979, a<\/st1:metricconverter> great workers&#8217; and popular revolution ousted Shah Pahlevi of <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Iran<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>, one of the greatest allies of imperialism in the region. In September 1980, using a difference about limit zones, Saddam received the OK from the <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\">USA<\/st1:country-region> administration and started a war and invaded <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Iran<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>.
