\n\tAmirul Haque Amin – president of the National Garment Workers Federation (NGWF) of Bangladesh – in reply to a solidarity motion sent by CSP-Conlutas and other Brazilian unions, summarized the total death toll and injured workers at Rana Plaza tragedy and asked for an international solidarity campaign to support the victims.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\tAmin summarized the casualties as follows:<\/p>\n

\n\tTotal:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n\tDeaths: 1.127<\/p>\n

\n\tInjured: more than 1.500<\/p>\n

\n\tNGWF members:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n\tDead: 42<\/p>\n

\n\tInjured (hospitalized): 59<\/p>\n

\n\tInjured (slightly): 34<\/p>\n

\n\tMissing: 51<\/p>\n

\n\tHe also listed the tasks NGWF has to face now:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n\t1. Support for NGWF members – dead and injured.<\/p>\n

\n\t2. Trying to reach the other dead and injured.<\/p>\n

\n\t3. Ensuring that all injured get proper treatment.<\/p>\n

\n\t4. Ensuring the dead, injured and suffered workers to get proper compensation.<\/p>\n

\n\t5. Continue the action and campaign for safe work place.<\/p>\n

\n\t6. Addressing and handling the closed factories workers’ problems (government and BGMEA have closed some 22 but in many cases workers lack wages, compensation and these kind of things are not addressed).<\/p>\n

\n\t“Beside direct support, for all other things we also need resources and we do not have sufficient financial capacity. In this regards NGWF requests you to, please, try to organize some support.”<\/p>\n

\n\tThe collapse of Rana Plaza structure that led to the death of more than a thousand workers is an example of capitalist greediness that should be fought back across the world.<\/p>\n
