{"id":520,"date":"2012-02-21T18:38:49","date_gmt":"2012-02-21T18:38:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/litci.org\/en\/2012\/02\/21\/liverpool-trade-unions-council-meeting-approves-engagement-in-bds-campaign\/"},"modified":"2012-02-21T18:38:49","modified_gmt":"2012-02-21T18:38:49","slug":"liverpool-trade-unions-council-meeting-approves-engagement-in-bds-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/litci.org\/en\/liverpool-trade-unions-council-meeting-approves-engagement-in-bds-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"Liverpool Trade Unions Council meeting approves engagement in BDS campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\n\t<b><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" align=\"left\" height=\"187\" hspace=\"6\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.litci.org\/novoen\/wp-content\/uploads\/End_Israeli_apartheid.jpg?resize=245%2C187\" vspace=\"4\" width=\"245\" \/>Liverpool TUC<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\n\t<b>Believes:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\n\tTrades Council has a moral responsibility to heed the call of oppressed people like we did in the\u00a01980s when adopting the\u00a0BDS call by South Africans fighting racism and apartheid.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe call for\u00a0BDS has come from over 170 Palestinians civil society organisations as well as organisations within Israel.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe campaign is founded on the basis of anti-racism and human rights for all.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe\u00a0BDS movement has united human rights campaigners from different nationalities, races,\u00a0religions and creeds\u00a0across the world.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<b>Resolves:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\n\tInstitute thorough research into our unions own contacts with investments and companies, including subcontractors, which may be implicated in violating Palestinian Human Rights as stated by\u00a0the\u00a0BDS movement.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tPressure Unions and affiliate partners to divest from Israel and from companies directly or indirectly supporting the Israeli occupation and apartheid\u00a0policies.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tPromote union resolutions\u00a0condemning Israeli violations of international law and human rights and endorsing\u00a0BDS in any form.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tActively support and work with Palestine solidarity organisations such as the\u00a0BDS movement, PSC, Jews for Justice for Palestinians, British\u00a0Committee\u00a0fr Palestinian Universities,\u00a0Israeli\u00a0Committee Against Housing\u00a0Demolitions.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAffiliate to the Palestine\u00a0BDS National Committee and engage in\u00a0education campaigns to publicise the injustice of Israel&#8217;s\u00a0discriminatory policies against the Palestinians and its illegal occupation. \u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Liverpool TUC Believes: Trades Council has a moral responsibility to heed the call of oppressed people like we did in the\u00a01980s when adopting the\u00a0BDS call by South Africans fighting racism and apartheid.
