On April 29, 2019 thousands took the streets of Tegucigalpa against Educational and Healthcare Reforms amidst a teachers and healthcare workers\u2019 strike since April 26.
\nThe police attacked the demonstrators with tear gas and water cannon transforming downtown area into a war-like zone.
\nDozens were hurt and arrested. Four building were set on fire.
\nThe Parliamentarians decided to suspend the procedure to pass the reforms.
\nOutside the capital, thousands blocked the roads and held demonstrations in the cities of San Pedro Sula, La Ceiba, Comayagua, La Paz and Choluteca on the border with Nicaragua.
\nOther important struggles have been carried out by Native-Hondurans like the Choluteca and Guapinol peoples for their ancestral lands.
\nThe dictator Juan Orlando Hernandez known as JOH lost elections in the end of 2017 but remained in power, working for the permanence of the regime.
\nOn the one hand the regime has resorted to open repression as in the case of Journalist Gabriel Hernandez, killed on March 17, 2019.
\nOn the other hand the regime increased its subjection to American Interests as the move of their embassy from Tel Aviv to Al Quds in Occuppied Palestine shows.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
