It has been under Saudi and Emirati military control since December 2017. 70% of all Yemeni imports come from Oman through that strategic province.<br \/>\nOn top of a military basis to keep the area under military control, the Saudi administration plan to build an oil pipeline and to expand the port.<br \/>\nLocals are uncomfortable with these plans. They understand that Saudi intervention is the main responsible for the destruction of the country and the deep humanitarian crisis what 22-million Yemenis are going through.<br \/>\nThis is not the first time the people take the streets against the growing Saudi presence. Other protests took place in April.<br \/>\nOn top of Saudi and Emirati troop reduction, locals want their port and airport back.<br \/>\n* Fabio Bosco is a Brazilian activist.
