While the Turkish Regime is Shaking: Insult, Agitation and Provocation

We said a lot about what might happen in an election process that is critical for the future of the regime and the country.

We tried to stay away from imprecise claims and to make predictions and reach conclusions based on historical experience and concrete data as much as possible, starting from a long time ago. We are now approaching the final! We can also understand this from the fact that the leading figures of the “palace regime” (1) are “overflowing” on some very sensitive issues. For this reason, it should not be overlooked that at a certain point in their quantitative accumulation, events may take a very different turn from the previous ones with a qualitative leap and that the increasing pressure with the effect
of a multi-faceted crisis may cause a severe break in the fault lines. In this context, it is useful to consider the provocation warnings that the leaders of the bourgeois opposition have voiced in recent days and which are most likely based on concrete data and information.

Anticipated Provocation and Calls to Stay Out of the “Street”

It is clear that there is a really worrying situation out there. Otherwise, we would not have heard such open statements about some provocation preparations from the mouths of the bourgeois opposition, who are trying to calm us down against the “blood dripping” threats of the regime circles! Apparently, the problem is not essentially “psychological”, as the bourgeois opposition often suggests to the dissident masses!

At this point, the main problem is that the regime’s threats, which have now become more public, point to extremely direct, concrete, material and imminent dangers. This, of course, makes the issue of combating them an urgent agenda. Aside from what happened between 7 June and 1 November 2015, he first made statements underlining the preparations of a “bloody” organization by the state-linked mafia leader Sedat Peker 3 (whom he said he was also involved in in the past). It was followed by bloody future plans, which some armed regime militants confessed to. Finally, it is clear that Saadet Party 4 Chairman Temel Karamollaoğlu’s warnings of provocation against mosque congregations and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu’s 5 words that we will be exposed to provocations in the coming months cannot be dismissed with liberal laxity. Instead of taking strong measures in the times when provocations started to loom, to say masses “don’t come to provocation!” and trying to keep it
away from the “street” (i.e. action) means surrendering the right to protest to the regime and automatically giving up on using the deterrent power of mass opposition. In such a case, the rumour of provocation will yield worse results than its realization!

Faith-Based Insult, Religious Agitation…

Let’s repeat, some of the deepening concerns about the elections do not occur in a vacuum. Recently, it is seen that the regime circles, starting from the very top, have begun to enter an area that is particularly dangerous for Turkey, such as religion and belief, with unusual harshness. “Our elders of the state” are engaged in an overt provocation activity. For example, President Erdoğan and Minister of Interior Soylu have recently increased the dose of their faith-based insults. They targeted another part of the population with claims such as “they burned a mosque”. It is known what kind of results religious agitation can produce if the death and lynching threats of some imams coincide with a series of provocations against mosque congregations.

Our history is full of examples of these. Therefore, we cannot explain this discourse with the traditional “religious abuse” of the Turkish right and the harsh rhetoric of the election periods due to the existing political-social conditions and dangers. In fact, we cannot see it limited to Erdogan’s classical “polarization” policy. Such provocations, which have been experienced many times in the past, have almost always been “They bombed the mosque!”, “They tore up the Qur’an!” etc. was carried out in the company of lies and by the members of the “deep state”.
Provocations of this scale generally occur during periods of a severe crisis that “shake” the regimes, when social tensions and class struggles intensify, conflicts between the state and the regime flare up, and things start to move rapidly to extremes.

Deterring the Provocateur

In such cases, the existence of a massive, democratic and deterrent opposition that can deter autocratic regimes from violent policies, provocation and adventures targeting rights and freedoms is very important. The most effective remedy for provocation is always a huge mass and a solid, independent organization led by workers. Conscious and organized masses can defend themselves against provocations with their own unique methods. This is also the dominant element that will determine the direction and class character of “democracy”. The real reason that drives the bourgeois opposition to act cautiously is, beyond the possibility of a series of provocations, the possibility of a workers’ opposition that enters the political arena and begins to voice its real demands and change the colour of the struggle.
