Great events are unfolding in Brazil today. Since the onset of the world crisis of 2008, the decrepit capitalist class of Brazil has been thrown into an inescapable spiral of chaos. In Brazil, like in many other Latin American countries, the national bourgeoisies hide behind the mask of populist supposedly worker-friendly governments. The reason is obvious, they fear the wrath of their people like they would fear the plague ! Now that mask is coming off, in Dilma Roussef’s impeachment the corruption of the Brazilian ruling elite is coming in full public view.
What earlier US backed dictatorships failed to achieve, these fraud leftist leaders have accomplished. To decieve the people and pacify them, so the imperialists and their national bourgeois backers could exploit the working class more thoroughly. In Brazil, the bourgeoisie has come to rely on the so-called “Worker’s Party”. This name now stands like a cruel irony. This is the same party that did not hesitate for a second before sending in the armed police and militia to murder the poor people of Brazil to appease the likes of Fifa ! Yet, it continues to call itself a party of the workers!?
From then on, till today, the workers and students of Brazil have been mobilizing to bring down this corrupt and nepotistic government. There are sections in the left around the world that sympathize with the worker’s party. We hold this to be a completely mistaken position ! The Worker’s Party today is one of the foremost defenders of capitalism in Brazil. Dilma’s administration has made it clear where the sympathies of this so-called ‘Worker’s party’ lay when it looked the other way as armed police massacred workers in Pinheirino. When the slums were cleared and dozens of people, even children were shown the bullet, the worker’s party showed where it really stands ! They stand today with the bourgeoisie. We agree with the PSTU when it calls out the fraud of the Workers Party and calls it a party of the bourgeois.
Today a very decisive political event has occurred in Brazil. The presidency of Dilma Roussef has faced an impeachment. The crisis at the foundation of bourgeois is showing in the crisis on its surface. We understand that this impeachment led by the right wing bourgeois parties, is not something done in the interests of the working class. This is simply a fight among two sections of the bourgeoisie, both equally hateful of the nation’s working masses.
In this, the PSTU stands out as a party that has the clarity to call out the thieves for what they are and demand the ouster of both factions. On the first of May, the PSTU has planned a mass action against the corrupt government. We wholeheartedly support this action and commend the efforts of the PSTU.
The bourgeoisie does not listen to the voice of the working class, until that voice comes out on the streets through strike actions and demonstrations. This is the language that the class enemy understands, and it is only through such mass actions that we can defeat their machinations.
